Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, UIndy is distinguished by highly respected undergraduate programs in teacher education, communications and the health sciences, nationally ranked graduate programs, and Centers of Excellence focusing on aging studies and education reform and leadership.
The University seeks a visionary, dynamic and entrepreneurial leader with a strong commitment to excellence in higher education, successful experience in teaching and academic administration in higher education, demonstrated administrative skills in managing a complex organization, and the ability to work with the Board of Trustees to guide the institution to the next level of excellence. The successful candidate will likely possess an earned doctorate, or a terminal degree with uniquely transferable experience, a record of scholarly publications, a strong understanding of and commitment to excellence in teaching, research/scholarship/creative activities, public service, and a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and promoting diversity. The ideal candidate should possess a “student-centered” leadership style which demonstrates a commitment to the student body and the ability to lead faculty, administrators, and staff.

An appreciation for the role of the University in enhancing economic and community development in the region and the capacity to attract financial support from the public and private sectors will be essential. The President must be a risk-taker with integrity who is responsive, decisive, and creative and has a passion for excellence. Individuals from non-academic sectors who have non-traditional but comparable skill sets will be considered.
