<p>Adelphi University seeks applications and nominations of highly qualified individuals for the position of the Ruth S. Ammon Endowed Chair in Childhood Education.</p>
<p>Adelphi University is seeking a dynamic educator who will be committed to serving diverse populations on Long Island and throughout the metropolitan area. The Endowed Chair will be responsible for providing vision in developing new initiatives to raise the visibility and status of Adelphi’s Childhood program locally, regionally and nationally while maintaining an active scholarly agenda and a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Collegiality and optimism are highly valued as well as a goodness of fit with the School of Education and Department of Childhood Education. In summary, Adelphi is seeking a visionary and collaborative colleague who is aware of their own strengths and able to draw on others’ strengths to move the program forward.</p>
<p>Candidates must be an educator with a distinguished track record of scholarly contributions to the field (nationally and internationally recognized) with extensive scholarship in teacher education within a content area in the childhood (elementary) grades with qualifications for appointment as Full Professor.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated work in schools addressing school reform, as well as university and school teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to school improvement, who demonstrate evidence of engagement with current issues in teacher education, and have experience in collaborative grant funding of research projects.</p>
